It all began in 1939 in the small Danish town of Randers. Newlywed Marie asked her husband Holger Nielsen, who was a skilled craftsman, to create a bin for her hairdressing salon. Holger wanted to impress his wife, and used all his talent to create a functional and beautiful pedal bin for her. The bin, which he named Vipp, was never intended to be sold, but some of Marie’s customers were so impressed with the bin that they ordered it for their husbands' medical and dental clinics. This was how the Vipp Bin saw the light of day.
With its chic look and simple style, the Vipp 14 Two-Gallon Bin is a must-have. Made of stainless steel and rubber, each Vipp Bin consists of up to 42 components and is hand-assembled by skilled craftsmen. One employee can assemble six bins per hour - insuring quality that lasts. Finished in either Black, White or Stainless Steel, this bin is both functional and fashionable.

VIPP:

Founded in 1939 by Holger Nielsen, Vipp is a family business run by a second and third generation today. It all started in Denmark when Nielsen created a bin for his wife Marie, for her hairdressing salon. Holger wanted to impress his wife, and used all his talent to create a functional and beautiful pedal bin for her. The bin, which he named Vipp, was never intended to be sold, but some of Marie’s customers were so impressed with the bin that they order it for their husband’s surgeries and dental clinics. “Good design never goes out of fashion”, Neilsen always said. And time would prove him right; the Vipp bin has hardly changed in either design or materials since it was created.
Holger Nielsen passed away in 1992 at the age of 78 and Holger’s wife was ready to sell the business. However, Jette Egelund, the couple’s youngest daughter could not bear to see her father’s life’s work disappear. So she decided to take over the company. A few years later, Jette was joined by her children, Kasper and Sofie.
At the time, Vipp bins were only exclusively sold to the professional market, but Jette was convinced that the Vipp bin could also be sold to design-conscious consumers on the look-out for a stylish waste bin for their bathrooms and kitchens. Vipp still manufacturers its pedal bins in Denmark and the materials are also the same: stainless steel and rubber. Today production has multiplied and Vipp offers other bathroom accessories as well. Vipp is now being sold worldwide and is set to open a showroom in New York to support the growing market in the US.
